First night at our new home for a few weeks.

Had another day to get packed, laundry done and sadly had to start to say goodbye.

We passed our ASA104! Celebrated!

We had an amazing breakfast and left Anegada. It was a nice sunset for going over ASA 104 material. I’ll never forget the phrase to go from True to Compass!

This was another great day of sailing. Jared sailed a mooring ball, and we resupplied at Leverick Bay, were the wakes from boats almost compromised ours. Had a great day of sailing and instruction from our Skipper. An evil Lion Fish was vanquished from the world, and we had a brief surprise guest captain come visit. It was awesome to hear the “Skipper Chatter”. The safety of their crew and boat equaled their vision statement and all actions stemmed from it.…

Had an incredible day and evening on Jost Van Dyke. Had a few drinks at Foxy’s dinner with a great view at the Tipsy Shark. I believe we passed our 101 on this night!

On this day we met an amazing person! Cara Brown, our wise and beautiful captain! She became the highlight of the trip. We are so grateful!

We were in Nanny Cay, a very nice harbor with an excellent charter group, Horizon’s. We are here on business, to get our 101, 103 and 104 ASA certifications.

On July 16th we entered Tortola and had to sleep on the boat, which had a minor power issue! This was the beginning of one of the greatest trips of my life.

On this fun filled week Friday was a day of ‘rest’. We walked a brief trail over to Peak 8 to catch the Gondola. Literally rode it for no other reason than it was fun.

The day started with seeing what we think was a baby moose, a good omen and rare sight. Yes, we were looking cautiously for the mother, which we never saw. Hiked Clinton Gultch in Colorado, then enjoyed over baked, non-skewed kabobs soaked in Teriyaki sauce, followed by relaxing in the Grotto.

Hands down, the best kayaking experience we have had. It was the perfect blend of danger, beauty and endurance. Camping on the river just added to the excellence. We were already thinking about our next trip before this one ended. Thanks to my good friends and loved ones for making this such a wonderful weekend!

On this trip we did something a little different and think we like the balance. We took our Casita and went to the primitive camp sites, and have been using boon-docking protocols. Did the Richland to Piedmont Rd run with our good friends the Vaughn’s. Enjoyed good company, good food, and good times.

It is at least 3 miles long, and took us about 4 hours, but we stopped, cooked, and took our time. More of the same beauty of the Canadian. Shallow enough that we would do kayaks versus paddle boards next time.

We have a Robin family with 4 hatchlings right outside our main window. The male robin, with a very back head, seems to throw large chucks of worm in the nest, whereas the mother seems to process and distribute – like in real life. The Robin’s are highly aware of our presence and watch us…

This trip occurred on the way back from Tennessee, joined up with our good friends and enjoyed the magic of Beaver Lake.

Our 2020 Ocoee trip to Tennessee was amazing. It was the result of over a year’s advance booking and to us, was a random choice. This to date has been one of our most magical trips.

Sometimes it is meals we make, other times meals provided. Either way, these are images of some of our fun food times.

Our Casita is a 2001 model with most of the upgrades. We got it during COVID and have loved it beyond what we thought. We’ve had fun experiences we didn’t know to ask for. Here are various images at different times on different trips, to give an idea of how we’ve enjoyed it.

The “kayakamaran”, as we call it, is basically two kayaks or paddle boards, connected by an aluminum loading ramp via tie straps. We have a 16lb 50 amp hour battery and 30 lb thrust trolling motor. I think we have gained a few pounds because it is so luxurious compared to the labors of paddling.

She is an extended bed (8′) with extended cab, the XP package (whatever that means). She is the main force behind the fun wagon.
