July 25, 2022 – Taking a break at Eustacia

July 24th, 2022 – Left Anegada

We had an amazing breakfast and left Anegada. It was a nice sunset for going over ASA 104 material. I’ll never forget the phrase to go from True to Compass!

July 23rd, 2022 – Speed run to Anegada

On this day we did a beam reach to Anegada in about an 1.5 hours, a total of little over 2 hours to fully setup anchor. It was a spirited sail with good heeling all the way. Got up to 10.5 knts, but only got pics of lesser speeds. Anegada is a different world. It…

July 22nd, 2022 – Oil Nut Bay

On this glorious day we passed our ASA103 and the girls had an great day at Oil Nut Bay for dinner and test taking. Earlier we were at Eustacia, a beautiful harbor with Neckar Island in the background. The company, the food, and the drinks were as wonderful as the accomplishment. Thanks Cara for all…

July 21, 2022 – Leverick Bay

This was another great day of sailing. Jared sailed a mooring ball, and we resupplied at Leverick Bay, were the wakes from boats almost compromised ours. Cara played whack-a-mole with the fenders and saved the day. That morning we passed our Man Over Board drills, grabbing the ‘man’ 4 times in row, twice with the…

July 20th, 2022 – Guana Island

Had a great day of sailing and instruction from our Skipper. An evil Lion Fish was vanquished from the world, and we had a brief surprise guest captain come visit. It was awesome to hear the “Skipper Chatter”. The safety of their crew and boat equaled their vision statement and all actions stemmed from it.…

July 19th, 2022 – Evening on Jost Van Dyke

Had an incredible day and evening on Jost Van Dyke. Had a few drinks at Foxy’s dinner with a great view at the Tipsy Shark. I believe we passed our 101 on this night!

July 18th, 2022 – We meet our Skipper and stay in the Bite!

On this day we met an amazing person! Cara Brown, our wise and beautiful captain! She became the highlight of the trip. We are so grateful!

July 17th, 2022 – Getting used to our Island suroundings

We were in Nanny Cay, a very nice harbor with an excellent charter group, Horizon’s. We are here on business, to get our 101, 103 and 104 ASA certifications.

July 16, 2022 – Tortola, BVI

On July 16th we entered Tortola and had to sleep on the boat, which had a minor power issue! This was the beginning of one of the greatest trips of my life.

June 24th 2022 – Riding the Gondola in Breck, CO.

On this fun filled week Friday was a day of ‘rest’. We walked a brief trail over to Peak 8 to catch the Gondola. Literally rode it for no other reason than it was fun.

June 23rd 2022 – Enjoying Vail, CO.

The day started with seeing what we think was a baby moose, a good omen and rare sight. Yes, we were looking cautiously for the mother, which we never saw. Then we went to Vail, CO. to examine their overpriced everything. Lunch at a Mexican Restaurant was just under $200. Incredible. The weather couldn’t have…

June 22nd 2022 Clinton Gulch

Hiked Clinton Gultch in Colorado, then enjoyed over baked, non-skewed kabobs soaked in Teriyaki sauce, followed by relaxing in the Grotto.

Checking out our new inflatable kayak on Lake Dillon.

June 20th 2022 Grand Lodge, Breckenridge CO.

Enjoying our time share at Grand Lodge Peak 7.

June 17th – 18th 2022 – Cripple Creek

We enjoyed our new raw piece of land in Cripple Creek, Colorado. The land showed a great view and is only 4 miles from Cripple Creek, where casinos and full LTE bars exist. We can also see Pike’s Peak to what I believe is our South. Now to build… one day…. We also met the…

June 16th 2022 – Sante Fe, New Mexico

Cripple Creek was our stopping place on our way to Cripple Creek. Enjoyed excellent weather and good food. The Sage hotel we stayed at I recall gave us desert which was delicious. However, when our plate came out only 1/3 the ice cream was on it (we know because we saw the same dish get…

WTF Stuff

This is a gallery for those things I’m sure what I’m looking at… For example, what is that moving green object that wasn’t visible to me but my iPhone saw?

June 6th – 10th Beaver Lake Excursion

We have now been to 4 of 11 campsites at Beaver Lake. We have yet to have a disappointing experience. It is easy to reserve spots, the people are nice and the land is beautiful. Too close for 4.5 hours to be an issue. 6/6/2022 –  Kayakamaran performed well over two days, but our battery…

June 3rd – 5th Birthday King’s River Arkansas Trip

Hands down, the best kayaking experience we have had. It was the perfect blend of danger, beauty and endurance. Camping on the river just added to the excellence. We were already thinking about our next trip before this one ended. Thanks to my good friends and loved ones for making this such a wonderful weekend!

May 20th 2022 Arcadia Lake, Central State Park Campgrounds

On this trip we did something a little different and think we like the balance. We took our Casita and went to the primitive camp sites, and have been using boon-docking protocols. The weather is nice enough to not need AC, otherwise the generator, AC, hot water and fridge (working off gas) makes us forget…

May 14th 2022 Canadian River Float Trip

Did the Richland to Piedmont Rd run with our good friends the Vaughn’s. Enjoyed good company, good food, and good times.

Sunset & Evenings

May 2022 Richland Rd to Piedmont Rd – Canadian River

It is at least 3 miles long, and took us about 4 hours, but we stopped, cooked, and took our time. More of the same beauty of the Canadian. Shallow enough that we would do kayaks versus paddle boards next time.

2022 Robin Family

We have a Robin family with 4 hatchlings right outside our main window. The male robin, with a very back head, seems to throw large chucks of worm in the nest, whereas the mother seems to process and distribute – like in real life. The Robin’s are highly aware of our presence and watch us…

2020 Beaver Lake Trip

This trip occurred on the way back from Tennessee, joined up with our good friends and enjoyed the magic of Beaver Lake.

2020 Tennessee, Ocoee Area

Our 2020 Ocoee trip to Tennessee was amazing. It was the result of over a year’s advance booking and to us, was a random choice. This to date has been one of our most magical trips.

Food

Sometimes it is meals we make, other times meals provided. Either way, these are images of some of our fun food times.

Corrie chilling at under the Casita awning at Lake Arcadia.

Casita

Our Casita is a 2001 model with most of the upgrades. We got it during COVID and have loved it beyond what we thought. We’ve had fun experiences we didn’t know to ask for. Here are various images at different times on different trips, to give an idea of how we’ve enjoyed it.

The beginnings of the kayakamaran

Kayakamaran

The “kayakamaran”, as we call it, is basically two kayaks or paddle boards, connected by an aluminum loading ramp via tie straps. We have a 16lb 50 amp hour battery and 30 lb thrust trolling motor. I think we have gained a few pounds because it is so luxurious compared to the labors of paddling.

Our 'new' 2017 Toyota Tundra with just under 33k miles.

2017 Toyota Tundra

She is an extended bed (8′) with extended cab, the XP package (whatever that means). She is the main force behind the fun wagon.
